Canadian law enforcement fitness test standards.

Every fitness test we train, in one table: what each one involves, the standard the recruiter lists, how long a pass is valid and where the number comes from. Forever Aesthetic is an independent training studio in Mississauga. We do not run any of these tests and no service endorses us.

Every standard below was checked October 26, 2026 against the recruiter page linked in its row. Always confirm your own service's current requirements.

The standards, side by side

Times are minutes and seconds. "Stage" and "level" are the point reached on the 20 metre shuttle run, which gets faster each level and ends when you can no longer keep pace. Tap a test name for how we train it.

How to read it.

  1. Find your service

Start from the "Who uses it" column. Some services use more than one test at different stages, and special constable, transit, housing, campus, parking and bylaw roles set their own.

  2. Check the date and the source

Every row carries the page we read and the date we read it. If your recruiter's page shows something different, their page wins.

  3. Know your own level first

A 60 minute assessment at the studio tests strength, conditioning, posture, flexibility and body composition (weight, body fat and BMI), with a shuttle run when your test has one. Then your training is planned back from your test date.

  4. Train every component

We train for many different tests, so we simulate every component and make the best use of our space. Hundreds of our clients are now in law enforcement careers. Individual results vary.

Which fitness test do I need?

It depends on where you are applying. Ontario municipal and regional police use PREP and, depending on the service, PIN. The OPP uses PIN and PREP. The RCMP uses the PFA. CBSA uses the PAT. Ontario corrections uses FITCO. The Canadian Armed Forces use FORCE. Alberta police use A-PREP and Alberta Sheriffs use PARE. Special constable, transit, housing, campus, parking and bylaw roles vary by employer. Your recruiter's page is the final word.

Are these the official standards?

They are the standards each recruiter listed on its own page when we checked on October 26, 2026. We link the page we read for every row. Forever Aesthetic is independent: we do not administer any of these tests, no service endorses us, and the recruiting organization makes every testing and hiring decision. Standards change, so always confirm your own service's current requirements.

Which part do most applicants need the most work on?

The 20 metre shuttle run is where many applicants fall short, and it is a component of PREP, A-PREP and FITCO. We coach pacing each length, turning at the line and the endurance to hold on as the beeps get faster, on turf lanes at the studio.

Can I train for more than one test at once?

Yes. We train for many different tests, so we simulate every component and make the best use of our space, with drills and simulations for each part of each test rather than one test's official equipment.

How do I start?

With a 60 minute assessment, $90 plus HST for 1 on 1. We review your goals, timeline and training history, then test strength, conditioning, posture, flexibility and body composition (weight, body fat and BMI). A shuttle run is included when your test has one. You leave with a recommended training frequency, format and package.

Tell us your goal and timeline.

We'll reply with times for your assessment. Not sure what you need yet? That's fine.

  1. We reply with availability and confirm your assessment.
  2. You do your 60 minute assessment and we review the results together.
  3. You choose a package and start coaching.
