Your program teaches the job. Fitness takes more time.

Police Foundations covers a lot, and class time only goes so far. Students we coach tell us the same thing: there isn't enough time in the program to build the fitness the PREP and the shuttle run ask for, and they're encouraged to get help outside it.

Fitness matters twice. First to pass your test, including the shuttle run, then to handle police college and the work after it. That's why we train you for the test and for everything after it.

Not sure which service you'll apply to yet? Start anyway. Most Ontario services use the PREP, so that's where your plan starts. See PREP test training and shuttle run training.

How we train it.

  1. See where you stand

Your 60 minute assessment tests strength, conditioning, posture, flexibility and body composition (weight, body fat and BMI), with a shuttle run.

  2. Train the PREP

We simulate every component of the pursuit and restraint circuit in the studio, including the wall.

  3. Build your shuttle run

Pacing, turns at the line and the endurance to hold on as the levels climb.

  4. Fit it around school

Sessions by appointment, private sessions with classmates, and app workouts between visits.

  5. Retest

Progress checks against the standards, timed to when you plan to apply.

Why train outside my Police Foundations program?

Class time is limited, and building fitness takes steady work. Students we coach tell us they're encouraged to get help with fitness outside the program. The PREP and the shuttle run have set standards, and your fitness matters again at police college and on the job.

PREP test training

Can I train with classmates?

Yes. Book private sessions with a classmate (1 on 2) or with two classmates (1 on 3). 1 on 2 starts at $64 and 1 on 3 at $50 per person per session, plus HST, depending on the package.

Small group training

When should I start?

As early as you can. More time means more room to build strength and conditioning before you apply. Your assessment shows where you stand and how much work is ahead.

What the assessment covers

Can you work around my class schedule?

Yes. Every session is by appointment, so we plan your training around your timetable.
